Blakie
Thanks for signing on to Blake's website.
Blake Foster  blessed our lives by coming into this world on November 18, 1999.  With pitch black hair and huge round eyes, he was very aware of his surroundings from a very young age.  His Mom and Dad, and two sisters, Paige and Brooke, were very excited and proud of him.  Blakie was all boy!  He did it all: stomped in mud puddles, drove the lawn mover and boat, played in the sand, had a mean golf swing, kicked the soccer ball and shot baskets as soon as he could stand.  His favorite color was "lellow" and he was crazy about "dog dogs", Elmo, and big trucks.

Blakie was so energetic and confident in everything he did.  He always knew what he wanted and how to get it.  Blake had a beautiful smile and a big personality.  At 9 months, he started walking and never looked back.  He was always on a mission and we were along for the ride.  At 18 months, he was talking in short sentences.  Blake was a huge tease and could melt your heart with his big smile !!!  Our life as we knew it was complete.

On August 22, 2001, Blake's zest for life was suddenly and tragically taken away after he sustained a broken neck in a car accident.  Blake passed away on August 24, 2001.  Our life, as we knew and treasured it, ended that terrible day.  We will forever cherish the 21 months in which our lives were blessed and filled with his presence.  Why Blake was taken from us, we will never know.  But we believe our dear Blakie is in Heaven leading, guiding, and guarding us through life's journeys.  It is the belief that Blake is in Heaven and that we can meet up with him someday, it's what gets us through each day and brings us comfort and peace in our hearts.  We love you Blake.

FUNDRAISING UPDATE - The Blake Foster Foundation has active fundraising projects. Our first and foremost fundraiser is our golf tournament.  It is the CAPTAIN'S GETAWAY Blake Foster Memorial Tourney. The fall classic will be held on Sunday September 21, 2008 at Emerald Hills Golf Course in Okoboji, Iowa. It is a four man best shot, blind draw.  If interested in playing in the tournament, please go to Captain's website and sign up. www.captainsgetaway.com   We want to express our deepest gratitude to "Captain's Getaway" who has donated to the Blake Foster Foundation over the past years. Thank you so much Captain's Getaway. Please experience Captain's Getaway and eat their awesome coconut shrimp.  It is the best in the Midwest.

The second active fundraiser is the selling of "Blake's Buffet of Recipes" Cookbook.  This gorgeous cookbook has over 250 recipes from friends, family and neighbors.  They all showed much love and generosity in our time of need. If you know of any outlets to sell this beautiful cookbook, please let us know.  This cookbook is made with sheer love and has the opportunity to make a difference in peoples lives.  The spirit of our little boy may live on with so many people who will use and treasure this cookbook everyday.  The cookbooks are $10.00 per copy and $3.00 for shipping per book.  If interested in purchasing a cookbook, please e mail the address at the end of this website and the cookbook will be sent after the check has been received.

Our third active fundraiser is selling awesome greeting cards. "Designs By Lori" are hand made cards that are very special to us.  My friend Lori has so graciously volunteered to hand make every single greeting card and donate ALL proceeds to the Blake Foster Foundation.  There are cards for all occasions. You can order birthday, friendship, all holidays, graduation, baby, wedding, and congrats cards. I use cards that are blank on the inside all the time for Thank you and friendship cards. Order these cards for the year -or- for the holiday.  Special requests are welcome.  If you want a particular theme - just order it custom made.  Need a card for your children with their name on it - the card can be custom made!  Cards are $2.50 for a single card or $10.00 for a 4 pack (pre made varieties).  To order your special cards or to special order any cards, just email Lori at:   lkmcbride@comcast.net     We thank Lori from the bottom of our hearts, for donating her time, energy and love.  She is helping the Blake Foster Foundation grow and prosper.

Foundation Update - All charitable proceeds from the Captain's Getaway Blake Foster Memorial Tourney, the sale of "Blake's Buffet of Recipes" cookbook and Designs By Lori greeting cards will be directed towards the Blake Foster Foundation.  The Blake Foster Foundation was formally established in 2006.  Our first and primary focus for the foundation will be to invest he money in car seat safety.  The Blake Foster Foundation will fund further research and testing into making car seats safer for babies and toddlers to prevent baby/toddler fatalities due to motor vehicle crashes.  Motor vehicle accidents are the number one cause of child fatalities.  Each year, one to three deaths per day and 20,000 injuries are due to motor vehicle crashes.  The first innovative technology that we are actively in contact with is the Child Safety Egg TM.  The seat or "egg" converts linear crash forces into arc forces.  By doing this, an arc force is generated.  These arcs allow the force of a crash to be naturally absorbed and dissipated and greatly reduce the probability of serious head, spinal, or internal organ injury.  This new revolutionary child restraint seat system is designed and built around the principle of the gimble.  The gimble is a mechanical device that allows a mass to maintain a relative gravitational position.  These gimble bearings suspend the child seat's injected molded polymer shell.  The shell's center of gravity is eccentric causing it to rotate about the swivel point when forces are applied.  For example, the gimble bearing system is used in the anti spill cup holder and the compass used in car dashboards.  Please visit www.safetyegg.com for more information about the Child Safety Egg TM.

The second revolutionary car seat concept that we are in contact with is the spherical car seat that the American Inventor won first place with in 2006.  The inventor has since partnered with Evenflo Company, Inc. to further develop the programs winning invention, the Anecia Survival Capsule.  This capsule is a new prototype infant car seat where baby/toddler is inside nested spheres.  In a collision, the spheres spin and shield the baby/toddler from the destructive force of the impact.  The Blake Foster Foundation is very excited and honored to be associated with these cutting edge inventors!
In the car crash, our dear Blakie did not have a scratch on him... yet Blake did not live.  Our goal and mission is to save baby/toddler lives!!

  Blake's Poem
Our world became complete the moment your cry filled the air
The Spirit of our God came down to earth and danced right there

The moment we held your tiny being, we knew our prayers were heard,
We gazed at you in amazament and spoke not a word.

You captured every heart of the family, who loved you so well,
And today we have your stories in our hearts we'll always love to tell.

Of boat rides and baseballs, of dancing and catch,
Of waiting for sisters to rescue you from bed and a rowdy wrestling match.

Of the songs you sang and the words you knew, and how you said "night night,"
And of how you couldn't end a meal without just a little food fight.

Of colds and boo boos and holding your baa and stamping your foot while you said "NO",
To capturing all the attention at a party like it was your show.

Of "Goodnight Moon" and "Twinkle Little Star" and "Yes Jesus Loves Me."
Of playing with Daddy's loving face, as you bounced on his knee.

Of how Mama treasured you more and more every passing day,
And always made the time to spend with you as you danced along the way.

You are Paige and Brooke's little brother and Grandma's sweet little guy,
And with your new haircut from Grandpa, we never had to try.

We'd find a reason to grab you up and give you a kiss and a hug,
We've seen you on that sandy beach where you romped and dug.

You stole our hearts, dear Blakie, and we know the angels cheered,
When you marched through those gates and the heavenly streets were cleared.

Our Littlest Angel has gone home to watch us from afar,
His halo tilted to the side in his hand a tiny star.

Our hearts won't break because our faith will see us through,
But our lives will never be the same, all because of you.

Faith, Hope and Love will always endure. And the greatest of these is love. Mr. Blake, you are loved very much and you continue to touch peoples lives. Please give us strength in this world. You are our bright and shining star who is in God's hand and is touching our hearts. Please keep guiding your sisters through out their lives. I do not understand the whole picture, but I am blessed by the beautiful memories of that great little boy. We miss your smile. Look down on us because hugs and kisses are coming up to you!!! GO Now, Run, Jump and Play in Heaven!!Your Mama
